Ob Khan National Park
Ob Khan National Park is located in Nam Phrae sub-district, just a few kilometers from the eco-stay and 25 kilometers southwest of Chiang Mai. It is a hidden park offering landscapes you would never expect to see in Thailand.
It is mainly built of limestone and there is a canyon with steep cliffs up to 30 meters high. The gorges are very beautiful to visit from the top. This is the source of 3 rivers: Wang, Win and Kan rivers. The water level can quickly change with the seasons, and swimming areas are allowed during dry season.
The upper part is covered by a forest of different tree species. From a viewpoint, you can overlook a valley and observe the flora. It is an interesting place to explore, and where you can easily recharge your batteries.
Trail Design
You will start following a discovery trail through the park. The first part is going along the gorges, passing through the canyon that contains the river. The path may be steep, but not difficult. You can get up close to the river for some great photos.
You will then reach the bridge at the end of the first rocky trail. It connects the two sides of the canyon and allows safe passage. This second section begins on a forest trail and leads to one viewpoint. You will come around the other side of the canyon to close the loop and reach the river below.
It is an easy, affordable trail for all levels of walkers. Afterwards, enjoy a fresh drink at the park's coffee shop!

Traditional Thai food
On the way to Ob Khan National Park, we will stop off at a small Thai food stand. The cooking is very well prepared in the traditional way.
You will have several choices of dishes and fresh drinks.
The chef is very smiling and friendly, known by all the locals here. We will be ordering our lunch from her. Don't miss her famous papaya salad, a signature dish. An experience not to be missed!
